Ride the Dragon

Bhutan

ituated in a remote region of the Eastern Himalaya, Bhutan retains much  of the old world charm and Buddhist Traditions of centuries ago. Known to  the Bhutanese as Druk Yul or "Land of the Dragon," Bhutan has become probably THE most exclusive adventure travel destination in the World with very small numbers of travelers permitted into the country per year by a government eager to preserve one of the world's last Shangrilas. With 60% of the country still covered in virgin forest, Bhutan maintains the strictest of environmental protection policies in the region, safeguarding some of the most incredible scenery left in the Himalaya as well as habitat  to several endangered species including the snow leopard. Join  Himalayan Roadrunners, and "Ride the Dragon" !

North Siam Adventure
Thailand : Along the Laos & Burmese Borders

onsidered by many as the birthplace of the first true Thai dynasty, Northern Thailand is a region rich with ancient tradition and customs. Why consider a motorcycle tour in Northern Thailand ? The asnswer lies buried in the regions geographical setting and turbulant history dating back two thousand years. Traditonally known as "Lan Na", Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields, the region has for most of its history been an entirely seperate Kingdom. Ruled by the Burmese for centuries before achieving notoriety more recently as "The Golden Triangle" - a label that conjures up images of war lords, mule trains and fields of brillaint red flowers - the area has always been a cultural and economic crossroads. Dominated by the vast Mekong river sweeping down from Central China through the point where the borders of Laos, Burma and Thailand meet, the terrain is lushly forested, rugged and mountainous. The valleys that carve through this magnificent scenery are host to a remarkably extensive, modern and lightly used network of roads. Today, the advent of modern transport and the wane of old trading practices leaves a region that has renounced its turbulent past, but which still reveals its its rich cultural and ethnic roots. Add to this some of the finest motorcycle roads anywhere in the world, and you will understand why those in the know are happy that this remains a closely guarded secret!
